My heart's an old Ford but it still get me round
I made it myself from crap that I've found It's all broken down, yet somehow so sturdy It's got me through mud, no matter how dirty It gets pretty hard but I'll have to deal With getting through life with only one wheel I slow to a stop as my heart breaks down I'm stuck by myself in Heartache Town If only I could get her to help my car start And fill the empty space in the gas tank of my heart I need to get out of this ugly old city And stop by her love that was ever so pretty I get my car going, I'm driving so fast Things start to blur as they're flying past There's no stop at the end of the road And I break out of my chest which was so recently sewed I'm free from myself, yeah I'm finally free My heart that's in pieces is displayed publicly I'm still all alone and I remember an age When my body held no open rib cage I can't turn back now so I hit on the pedal In my gas-run heart that's just one heap of metal There's no looking back without shedding a tear But I must push on to an empty new year I hope you can breath since you left me, the one you'll forget. And if your car ever breaks down, I'll leave a tank of gas right where you stop, since I'm all too familiar with that road. I'll stick to my seat until I come by you again. |
